Rules and Regulations for Merry & Bright Holiday Light Showdown

Eligibility:

1. Contest is open to residents of Oak Creek, WI. Only homes with valid Oak Creek addresses may participate.
2. The entrant must be the homeowner, renter, or a direct family member of the homeowner/renter at the listed location.
3. Use of professional decorating or lighting companies is strictly prohibited. Decorations must be completed by the entrant and/or their immediate household.
   
   

Entry Rules:

1. All entries must be submitted by 11/30 by 4:00 p.m.
2. Submission Form: Participants must complete the official contest entry form, including their full name, address, and contact information. By typing your full name in the designated field, you agree to all terms and conditions outlined in this document.
3. They city of Oak Creek will take photographs of all entered displays during the competition for promotional purposes on the City’s social media and website.

Judging Criteria:

1. Displays will be voted on by the public based on creativity, originality, and overall visual impact.  The display with the most votes received by 12/21 will be deemed the winner.
2. Judging will occur between 12/2 to 12/21. Ensure your decorations are fully set up by 12/2 and operational from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m on judging days (12/2 to 12/21).

Display Regulations:

1. Displays must be visible from the sidewalk or street. Indoor decorations or backyard-only displays are not eligible for judging.  Participants must display city-issued yard signs, indicating they are part of the competition. Signs will be provided by the City of Oak Creek upon entry acceptance.
2. Decorations must be safely secured and not pose a risk to public safety or obstruct sidewalks or streets.
3. All displays must comply with local regulations, including noise ordinances and holiday light usage guidelines.

Prizes:

1. Winners will be announced on 12/22.
2. The houses with the most votes during the public voting period from 12/2 to 12/21 will receive exciting prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The winner of the Mayor's Choice award will also be recognized with a prize.

I understand that upon submission, the photographs taken during judging of the holiday decorations, and all associated copyright and trademark rights, become the property of the City of Oak Creek, WI.

I hereby grant permission to the City of Oak Creek to use these photographs at its discretion for publicity and public relations with no compensation or credit to me or to any of the subjects in the photograph.

I also grant permission to publish my address on promotional materials, including the City website (such as an online map), so the public can be invited to view the lighting displays in the city after all submissions are received. I understand this may result in increased traffic near my home as the public drives by to view my lighting display due to the promotion.

By entering the contest, participants agree to abide by these rules and all decisions made by the City of Oak Creek. 

The City of Oak Creek reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not comply with these rules or are deemed inappropriate.
